Kabalana Surf Club

Kabalana Surf Club is a beachfront surf hostel, restaurant, and social destination located on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Yashima led the culinary and operational development of the venue, overseeing menu creation, kitchen systems, staff training, and day-to-day restaurant operations. By combining approachable coastal dining with efficient hospitality management, she helped establish a food and beverage experience that complemented the club’s vibrant surf culture and community-driven atmosphere, creating a destination where guests could gather, connect, and enjoy exceptional hospitality by the ocean.

A Filipino-European wedding feast set among the vines — seven courses tracing two cultures, one love story. Every dish was built around the couple's heritage: kare-kare reimagined with Florentine technique, lechon elevated with truffle and rosemary.

Marleen (Lhen) Yashima is a hospitality and culinary professional with international experience spanning restaurant operations, food and beverage development, culinary innovation, and hospitality management.

Based in Japan, Marleen has built a career that combines culinary creativity with business strategy. She has worked as a chef, restaurant developer, and research & development leader, contributing to menu creation, concept development, staff training, and operational improvement across multiple hospitality ventures.

With experience working across different countries and cultures, she brings a global perspective to food, hospitality, and guest experience. Her strengths include culinary innovation, restaurant openings, team leadership, and transforming ideas into successful hospitality concepts.
